In Olivia Forms a Band, Olivia the pig and her pig family are going to see a fireworks show. Olivia is upset when she finds out that the fireworks show won't be accompanied by a band, so she forms a band: consisting only of herself!

Olivia has many silly moments: on the first page Olivia is looking for two matching socks, even though all of her socks are red and identical!

Olivia also puts on lipstick to get ready for her show. When she puts the lipstick on and smiles in the mirror, she makes you laugh because of how funny she looks!

It is not every day that a pig puts on lipstick, hunts for red socks, or forms her own band. Reading Olivia makes you giggle, and the author Ian Falconer has lots of imagination he puts to good use!
