"Who is Bakhtin?" A Poem!

Bakhtin was a man who lived long, long ago.

He thought lots of thoughts, and let them all grow.

His thoughts had some silly, some willy, some nilly,

Ideas that worked, and sometimes were frilly.

Bakhtin claimed a word, called "Carnivalesque",

Seen in some books, in drawings and text.

Carnivalesque means something that's giggly,

Something that's fun, that's crazy, with imagery

Of people and places and adventures to see.

Let's go together, and see what could be.

Kids just like YOU can enter this world,

By going on trips with the boys and the girls,

Who live in the pages of books that we love

That are carnivalesque, in spirit and fun!

These books exist, I have some examples,

So come look around, and see some samples,

Of books that Bakhtin would surely have thought,

Have carnivalesque themes and plots!
